Ben Ainslie CBE is Britain’s most successful Olympic sailor. He won a silver medal in the Laser class at the 1996 Atlanta Games, and went one better to win gold in Sydney four years later. In 2004, Ben moved into the larger Finn class and secured a gold medal in Athens before achieving his goal of a third Olympic gold at the 2008 Games in Beijing. Ben has won nine World Championships in his sailing career to date, is the only sailor to be crowned ISAF World Sailor of the Year three times, and has five times been awarded the British Yachtsman of the Year title.

After Beijing, Ben took time out of Olympic sailing to be the skipper for Team Origin - Great Britain’s America’s Cup Team. During this time Ben became the ISAF World Match Racing Champion 2010. Ben has now returned to his Olympic Finn preparations and is wholly focused on London 2012.
